Let There Be Light

Just in time for the time change, we have lights.  We also have electric outlets and smoke detectors.

Here's the dining room chandelier

Vanity light in half bath

The cams and dinette light in the kitchen

The mud room light

Garage lights

Nice full box

One of two lights in our master closet

Our vanity light

The upstairs hall/loft area

The laundry room

220!!! in the laundry

A plug...so exciting but I figured one picture would be enough

The stairwell chandelier at the very top...view from the attic

The attic bathroom vanity light

Lighting and smoke detector in the attic living area

From the underside, you can see that there is, indeed, one baluster missing...

Pretty sure these are toilets and faucets

And a garbage disposal and sump pump

Light in the pantry

Another view of the dining room light, looking towards the front of the house

Up next, brick?  Maybe toilets?  To be continued...

Nothing Too Exciting Today

Today they painted the trim. They also added most of the board and batten on the front of our house. There will still be some board and batten on the top third of the garage. The rest will be brick. They are supposed to start on the brick by early next week. They also tiled our shower and as it turns out, it is the cheapest possible tile. The same tile I endured in my last kitchen for 5 years before several guys took sledge hammers to it.  Replacing it may come before replacing my kitchen countertops.  It's a fifteen year project.  We are now, theoretically, four weeks from closing.

Not much to share with pictures. Here's the front with the board and batten on. There is a trim line on the garage...above it will be board and batten and below will be brick.

Another kitchen picture. There is so much dust and debris floating in the air.  We need 25 cabinet handles and 6 drawer pulls.   I am pretty sure those aren't going to be provided.

Here's our fancy, not, shower tile. It does kind of look retro, but that wasn't the look we are going for.

Losing Sunlight Part Two

There just doesn't seem to be enough light to take decent pictures. The girls finally went with me to look around. When we came out, Veronica saw one of her favorite classmates across the street.  Turns out, she lives across the street and one door down! She's so excited.

Our master bathroom countertop is in

The girls chose which sink they want

The banister going up to the attic is in. The upper end seems to have a large gap...

Attic bedroom closet doors are in

Attic bathroom cabinet and countertop is in

Here you can see that large gap a little better

The kitchen island is in...and we don't have ghosts...that is debris floating in the air mixed with camera flash

Another piece of kitchen counter laying on the section between the refrigerator and the stove

The island has two large drawers and four sections of pullout shelves

The other side of the house has siding now...

And the back is finished as well

A Little Bit of Everything

Some of these pictures are blurry because it was nearly pitch black when I took them. The last worker didn't leave until the sun was almost down.  There were quite a few surprises.  From what I could see, there is a second coat of paint. Big improvement. Also, most rooms have trim now and it looks better.

Here's the trim that bothered me before...I think it is ok now.

Here's the banister on the first floor...it will be stained nearly black but will still have white balusters.

Wow...some of the kitchen cabinets are in place.

The banister between the 1st and second floor.

The kids bathroom cabinets. They will have dual sinks, so two cabinets.

The cabinet in the master bath. It is raised and has dual sinks also.

The sad little cabinet for the attic bath.

Back to the kitchen...and our lazy susan.

And our cabinets have pullout drawers. Thank goodness!!!

Siding? Really....we weren't expecting that either.

But this is all that is done. Two thirds of one side.  Pretty exciting. We may actually make our closing date...November 27.
